We Use the Right Tools for the Job
Diamond Grinding is one of the most important preparation steps involved
in installing epoxy flooring. While some contractors don’t prefer this method, we
do because of the results it provides. Diamond grinding will properly open concrete
pores without risking damage or gouging. The end result is a more uniform finish
that’s designed to provide long-lasting results. This is simply a superior preparation
method for epoxy flooring because it ensures a solid bond with the underlying floor.
Hand Grinding
Creating epoxy floors that are designed to last means making sure that all edges
are properly prepared for coating application. We achieve this by using a hand grinding
method that ensures consistency throughout the flooring surface.
Sanding
This step places after the epoxy flooring product is put into place. It helps create
a stronger, mechanical bond between the epoxy and the flooring surface. This is
a step that many others pass over, but we find it produces the longest-lasting results
and durability.
Shot Blasting
This is a cheaper floor preparation technique than diamond grinding. Many contractors
prefer it for this reason. Unfortunately, shot blasting is an aggressive approach
that can lead to pits, valleys, high spots, low spots and surface damage that can
harm the final appearance of epoxy flooring. These are the reasons why we prefer
using diamond grinding instead, but we want you to see the difference.
Scarification
Scarifying Concrete is a very aggressive concrete preparation process.
It is designed for severely eroded concrete floors.
Liquid Floor Systems specializes in scarifying concrete as a part of our concrete coatings process.
This detailed step prepares the surface for epoxy application. We spend a great
deal of time making sure the surface is just right for the final applications.
